Well Dressing at Endon

Well Dressing at Endon

Details

Endon is unusual in that, until very recently, it was the only place in Staffordshire to continue with the ancient custom of well-dressing that is so common in neighbouring Derbyshire.

The ceremony takes place during the Spring Bank Holiday in late May and includes the coronation of a 'Well-Dressing Queen'. The Caldon Canal runs through the 'old Village' of Endon, along which peaceful canalside pubs can be found.
