The gardens are one of Tatton Park's most popular attractions providing year round colour and wonderful and varied features including stunning formal gardens, productive kitchen gardens and an extensive arboretum. Portraying the Egerton family's living history, the gardens were added to by each generation and now result in 50 acres representing most gardening styles since the 1700s. The Italian and Tower gardens are worthy of note as are the Topiary,
Rose Garden, Maze and recently restored Conservatory with its collection of Australian and New Zealand plants similar to those housed in the building when it was constructed in the 19th century.
The Walled Kitchen Garden demonstrates the importance of traditional skills and procedures and seasonal produce is available to purchase in the Garden Shop. Don't miss the 19th century Fernery designed by Joseph Paxton. Children visiting the gardens will have a fantastic time in the Maze. There's also a fun garden sticker trail to follow for a small charge.
Guided Tours of the Japanese Garden take place during high season on Wed and Sat 1.20pm and 2.20pm, weather permitting.
Small extra charge, applies to NT members also. Book on the day.
