Silk Mill Lane,
Derby’s stunning Silk Mill building stands on the site of the world’s first factory and is the gateway to the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Silk Mill is reinventing itself for the 21st century and, through reviving the principles of the Enlightenment, expanding traditional perspectives of what a museum is and can be. The ground floor of the Silk Mill is open after our first phase of refurbishment that is feeding into the larger programme of redevelopment over the coming years.
Bank Holidays: CLOSED
The current ground floor experience will be CLOSED to the public during January and early February 2016 to accommodate a 6 week Re:Set phase as part of the wider Derby Silk Mill Museum of Making project. This phase will allow the project team to plan and prepare for re-opening the refreshed space in February 2016 as a ‘Project Lab’. The ground floor will reopen on Saturday 13 February.
