Rural hamlet in South Derbyshire consisting of a church, handful of cottages and farms. The village was owned by the monks at Tutbury Abbey at Domesday but the ownership reverted to Henry de Ferres when Norman rule began. The Church of St Mary houses the oldest bell in Derbyshire, which was cast by John de Stafford at Leicester and inscribed with the words 'Hail Mary'.
