Details

High up in the limestone hills, a quiet village set in some glorious Peakland scenery.

A typical one street limestone village, at over 1000 feet above sea level, there are fine sweeping views away over some scintillating scenery. Now by-passed by the busy A6, it is a sleepy little place with a close-knit community spirit. There are some pretty cottages and houses interspersed with old farmhouses set around the old church of St Michael.

Things to do; Situated midway between Buxton and Bakewell, Taddington makes a good base for touring the area. The Limestone Way passes through the village and is just one of many fine routes for walkers. Nearby are some beautiful dales and grassy hilltops with spectacular panoramic views. On one of these is the ancient burial site of Five Wells chambered cairn, just west of the village. There is a pub, The Queen's Arms in the village with another, The Waterloo Inn just north on the A6. Well Dressings are held annually in August. Nearest villages with other facilities see Tideswell, Buxton and Bakewell.
