Foolow Pond

Foolow Pond

A very picturesque little village in the limestone uplands set around its' duck pond.

The fine old buildings grouped around the village green complete with an ancient cross, bull-ring and pond make Foolow one of the prettiest villages in the Peak. The grand Manor House and Old Hall stand away from the humbler, but no less picturesque, cottages. There is a tiny church dedicated to St Hugh and slightly a grander looking Wesleyan Chapel.

Things to do; The glorious countryside is a paradise for walkers; good routes lead up to Bretton and The Barrel Inn or over the fields to the delightfully named Sillly Dale. Foolow has a fine old inn, The Bull's Head, but no shops or other visitor facilities. There are Well Dressings held annually in late August early September. Nearest villages see Eyam and Tideswell.
