A small limestone village of much charm hidden away in the hills south of Wirksworth.
There is an old world feel about this charming little hillside village. Away from main roads it is a peaceful place, there are some beautiful views across picturesque countryside. The very fine Holy Trinity church dates back to Norman times. The oldest and most interesting building is the Barley Mow, a tall gabled inn, one of the few that has remained virtually unchanged over the centuries.
Things to do; Carsington Water, with its' visitor centre, water sports and wildlife sanctuary is just a short distance away. There are some good walking routes along little used paths with panoramic views all around.
